Research activities

The Centre's research activities are developed within the framework of national and international programs and cover a vast range of interests: beyond the traditional fields of geology (plate dynamics, magnetic stratigraphy),  issues of great interest and relevance (volcanic risk, global change , environmental magnetism) and applications in other branches of science, such as archeology and cultural heritage, are also investigated. The research topics developed at CIMaN-ALP over the last years mainly concern:

  • Archaeomagnetism
  • Magnetostratigraphy
  • Environmental magnetism
  • Paleoclimate
  • Paleomagnetism
  • Volcanology

Teaching activities

Students and PhD candidates from the associated universities carry out teaching and research activities at CIMaN-ALP, which also hosts students and researchers from other Italian and foreign universities.

The Interuniversity Center also organizes post-university courses at Peveragno Congress Center on the various applications of magnetism in Earth Sciences.
