The Center

The Interuniversity Centre for Rock Magnetism brings together researchers from 5 Italian Universities, which since 2005 operate under a common administrative management to concentrate resources and efforts on the establishment of a modern research laboratory. The universities currently involved are: Chieti-Pescara, Milan, Rome 3, Turin, Urbino.

The laboratory is located in the Congress Centre of Peveragno (Cuneo), which the Provincial Administration of Cuneo made available to the University of Turin since 1994.

Research activities are developed within the framework of national and international programs, and cover a wide range of interests. In addition to the traditional fields of geology (plate dynamics, magnetic stratigraphy), applications of great interest and relevance such as volcanic risk, climate change, environmental magnetism, archaeology and many others are investigated.

Students and doctoral candidates from the partner universities carry out their research at CIMaN-ALP, which also hosts students and researchers from other Italian and foreign universities.
